EDUCATION AND SCHOOLS

Denver is the most educated city in the U.S. Denver has the greatest percentage of college graduates of any major metropolitan area in the U.S.; 92.1% of the population in the metro area have high school diplomas and 35% have at least a bachelor's degree, according to the U.S. Census. The national average is 81.7% for high school diplomas and 23% with a college degree.

Elementary and Secondary Schools

Denver Public Schools
Widely recognized today as one of the best urban school systems in the country, Denver Public Schools serves the residents of the City and County of Denver, Colorado. While its roots can be traced to 1859, when the city was founded, the district was officially created in 1902 when voters approved a constitutional amendment that created the City and County of Denver. The same constitutional amendment consolidated five school districts into today’s School District No. 1.
